More than 20 city public school students have received the ultimate treat for their future.
During the New York Careers through Culinary Arts Program Scholarship Awards Breakfast on Friday 21 students were awarded culinary scholarships to attend the most prestigious culinary schools in the city and across the nation.
The scholarships ranged in value from $2,000 to $104,000.
Among the recipients were two Long Island City High School students, who took home the biggest awards. Melanie Vives received $105,800 from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Full-Tuition Scholarship and a CIA Community College Stipend of $2,950. Uriah Thompson was awarded $108,624 for the Johnson & Wales Full-Tuition Scholarship.
