A man donning a surgical mask and yellow construction hat robbed a 71-year-old woman in her Flushing apartment Saturday afternoon, cops said.
The suspect followed the woman as she was entering her building about 1:30 p.m. and got into the elevator with her, according to officials. When she opened her apartment door and started to go inside, the suspect pushed her, grabbed her handbag, which contained cash, and fled police said.
The woman was taken to New York Hospital Queens with a fractured bone in her leg, cops said.
Police said the suspect, who is possibly a white or Hispanic man and 30 to 40 years old, was also wearing a dark jacket and carrying a tool bag.
