Astoria residents are gearing up for the summer swimming season.

The Parks Department released the schedule for the Astoria Park Pool, located at 19th Street and 23rd Drive, last week.

The pool will open on June 26 and will be able to be accessible through Labor Day, September 1. It will be open between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

One resident, Alex Polizio, said that he is very excited that the pool is opening so he and his two preschool daughters can go swimming.

“I’ve already bought their bathing suits and goggles,” he said. “I plan to come all day, every day I can.”

However not all residents are excited as Polizio. One Astoria resident, who was in the playground with her child at Astoria Park on Friday, said she had no intention of going to the pool, as she prefers swimming at a friend’s pool in Long Island.

The Parks Dept. suggests residents bring a lock to keep valuables safe, while leaving electronics, food, glass bottles and newspapers at home.
