Tickets for tomorrow’s Taste of Sunnyside have been snapped up fast–although event organizer Sunnyside Shines said there is still a small supply available.
The event will take place Tuesday on Queens Blvd (between 45th and 46th Streets) in a tent under the elevated No. 7 line.
This year’s Taste will feature the diverse offerings from more than 25 Sunnyside restaurants and attendees will be able to sample cuisine from each participating restaurant.
The event will also include popular bands, such as the all-female mariachi band Mariachi Flor de Toloache (above) and jazz-group Sunnyside Social Club.
This will be the fourth Taste of Sunnyside and Sunnyside Shines has signed up more restaurants to the event the three previous Taste events. Additionally, it will be the first time Sunnyside Shines hosts the event outdoors.
“This is the first time that anyone has hosted a large-scale event under the elevated 7 train in Sunnyside,” said Rachel Thieme, executive director of Sunnyside Shines.
The space under the elevated train line will be tented and lit, with a stage set up.
Given the neighborhood’s diverse food culture, the selections served by participating businesses are likely to be vast. For example, there will be Murphy’s lobster mac & cheese, Japanese noodles and Romanian hors d’oeuvres.
The BID has partnered with Edible Queens on the event as it aims to promote the neighborhood as a dining destination.
The Taste of Sunnyside has traditionally been Sunnyside Shines’ most popular annual event and has always created a lot of neighborhood buzz.
