Clergy United for Community Empowerment sent a terrible message by organizing a homecoming party for former state Sen. Shirley Huntley (“SE Queens holds party to greet Huntley on return from prison,” June 6-12).
Huntley violated the public trust by using taxpayer money for her own benefit. Huntley served her time, but she does not deserve to be celebrated.
Holding a party in Huntley’s honor sends a message that her criminal actions were acceptable.
If this is what CUCE stands for, then it should not be trusted.
