The New York Mets have teamed up with People for the Pavilion, a volunteer organization working to preserve the historic structure that hosted the 1964 World’s Fair.
The baseball team will donate $5 from every ticket sold through a special online offer to Friday’s game against the San Francisco Giants to the nonprofit.
The Pavilion has sat rusting for decades after serving as a concert venue and film set in the 1960s. City Parks officials recently estimated it would cost more than $50 million to preserve the iconic structure.
Baseball fans will receive a free limited edition People for the Pavilion T-shirt with the purchase of their ticket.
The offer is available at mets.com/pavilion
