Bullets Fly At Bushwick Houses
Two female bystanders were shot by a gunman who opened fire on and killed a Brooklyn man outside the Bushwick Houses in East Williamsburg early on Sunday morning, Aug. 10, it was reported.
Police said the shooter’s intended target-Jahmal Jerome, 24, of Sands Street in Vinegar Hill-died after sustaining a gunshot wound to his head.
In doing so, law enforcement sources said, the unknown perpetrator shot a 47-year-old woman in the leg. A bullet also grazed the head of a 50-year-old woman.
Both bystanders were treated at Bellevue Hospital Center, authorities noted.
According to police, the violence erupted at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in front of the Bushwick Houses complex located at 131 Moore St.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the gunman walked up to Jerome, pulled out a handgun and fired several shots. The perpetrator fled from the scene seconds later.
Members of the 90th Precinct and NYPD Public Service Area 3 responded to the scene along with EMS units. Paramedics pronounced Jerome dead at the location.
Various police units canvassed the surrounding area, but no immediate arrests were made.
An investigation is ongoing.
