Former Frankie’s Pizza location to become an Artichoke Pizza

Nov. 12, 2014 By Michael Florio

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza, a high-end pizzeria with several locations in New York, is about to open Astoria.

The pizzeria will be taking over the space that was previously occupied by Frankie’s Pizza, which had been at that 22-56 31 Street location for 50 years.

An employee for Artichoke Pizza said the owners aim to open the establishment by the beginning of 2015.

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza was founded by Francis Garcis and Sal Basille in 2008 when they opened in the East Village. Since then, they have added another five pizzerias in locations such as Chelsea, Greenwich Village and LaGuardia Airport.

The Astoria pizzeria will be their seventh restaurant.

The pizzeria serves items such as artichoke pizza, crab pizza, vodka pizza, pizza wedges, calzone, stuffed artichokes and garlic sticks.
