The Greater Ridgewood Youth Council (GRYC) launched the 11th cycle of its “Connect to Success” Yound Adult Internship Program. All participants are between the ages of 18 through 24. They are selected through a competitive process that identifies who has the determination to develop work experience and further their educational goals. In addition to completing a 14-week paid-internship, these young adults must also complete a series of workshops on Nutrition and Healthy Relationshipsm Higher Education, CPR, Life Skills and Professional Development. Since 2011, the program has served more than 300 participants. Many of them have completed internships from such places as: Coney Island, the Council for Airport Opportunity, CVS Pharmacy, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, LGA Marriot Hotel, the September 11th National Memorial and otherbusinesses across the City’s five boroughs. This initiative is part of the Center for Economic Opportunity and the Department of Youth & Community Development’s plan to provide leading professionals with interns.
