The police are searching for a man who allegedly approached an 11-year-old girl near Ditmars Blvd and tried to steal her cell phone.
The police said the girl was walking to school on Jan. 20, at about 7:30 am, when the suspect approached her near Ditmars and 28th Street and tried to grab her phone.
The girl clung onto the phone and began to scream, scaring the suspect off, police said.
There were no injuries, according to the NYPD.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old black male, standing 5 foot 9 inches tall.
