Things are getting back to normal, one step at a time, on the No. 7 train subway line after Monday’s suspended service because ice hit the third rail.
The 7 train began operating with limited service on the full route at about 1:59 a.m. Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Transit Authority said. Hours before, the line only operated between Flushing’s Main Street and 74th Street in Jackson Heights.
During the morning’s rush hour, there was no express service on the line that stretches from Flushing into Times Square.
On Tuesday, the MTA suspended service on the N and Q lines between 57th Street in Manhattan and Queensborough Plaza “due to a smoke condition” at the Lexington Avenue station, the spokeswoman said.
And the R train, she added, was running on the F line from 57th Street in Manhattan to the 36th Street station in Queens.
In the meantime, borough residents had to be careful to get to work because of icy conditions on the road and sidewalks Tuesday morning. Slushy streets were the common scene Tuesday, when temperatures were not expected to even hit the 30 degree mark.
