An international fried chicken franchise is set to open in Astoria.
Bonchon Chicken, a Korean fried-chicken eatery located at 25-30 Broadway, is set to open March 10, according to franchise co-owner Jack Poon.
The franchise will be the fifth Bonchon Chicken in New York and will be part of global chain that includes about 30 US restaurants.
Poon said he decided to open the restaurant since he liked the concept and its simplicity. When he opens, the menu will initially consist of the basics—such as Korean fried chicken, wings, drumbsticks, crispy chicken sliders and French fries.
Poon, a Fresh Meadows resident, said he picked the location because his business partner has lived in Astoria for the last 18 years.
“It is a really nice neighborhood and this is a great location,” Poon said. “It will bring a lot of foot traffic.”
The restaurant is located across street from the Strand Smokehouse.
“We are very excited about opening here,” he said.
The restaurant will be open from 11 am to 11 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. It will be closed on Mondays.
Poon said that the eatery also has a full liquor license.
