A new optical store is opening on Queens Blvd this Sunday on a block that has undergone significant change in the past 5 years.
Sunny Sight Optical, located at 44-13 Queens Blvd, takes over the space that was previously occupied by Pink Icing.
The business is owned by Diana Arango, who started selling glasses about 6 years ago from her Long Island home.
The store will be her first and it will offer a broad product line—from high end designer glasses to more moderately priced eyewear, Arango said. There will be an optometrist on site for eye examinations, she added.
Arango said she was drawn to Sunnyside due to its proximity to Manhattan and how there is plenty of pedestrian traffic.
Sunny Sight will open on a block that has a significant amount of change in the past five years.
The optical store is just one of about eight new businesses that have come to the Queens Blvd. strip (between 44th and 45th Street) in recent years.
In the past five years, Wespaw Pets replaced an OTB shop; Rose’s Diner closed and five years later the space is occupied by Ventura; Boost mobile store closed and is now the home of Yogurberry; Sugar Room replaced a tanning salon; and April Glass was replaced by Blush & Glow Day Spa.
Last year, Bonjour European Hair Design, located at 44-19 Queens Blvd, took over the space that had been previously occupied by Magic Touch Hair Salon
Meanwhile, Affordable Dental has moved in to the space that was once Carpati Transport, which was largely in the business of shipping items to Romania.
