Murasaki

The new sushi restaurant that is coming to Vernon Blvd is likely to open toward the end of May.
The restaurant, which is being called Murasaki, will be located at 46-44 Vernon Blvd between Alobar and Petey’s Burger.
The owner Tohei Nishi said that the opening date is dependent on when Con Ed comes in to change the gas line. Until then he can’t move forward.
Nishi, who owned the Palace of Japan in Riverdale, said he had been making sushi for more than 30 years. He said that he sold the Bronx restaurant to a friend about a year ago after his rent went up.
He said his customers used to tell him to open a sushi restaurant in Astoria or in Long Island City. He said he started looking about two years ago before discovering the Vernon Blvd. space.
Nishi, who was born in Japan and now lives in Forest Hills, said his menu will be similar to his form Riverdale restaurant—offering items such as sushi, sashimi, teriyaki and tempura. The restaurant will offer wine, beer and saki.
“I want to make it simple, with Japanese food only,” Nishi said.
The restaurant can seat between 40 to 45 people.
