Sunnyside Gardens Park will be packed this Saturday with carnival games and activities ranging from bouncy houses to sword fighting.
Tomorrow is the Sunnyside Gardens Community Association’s Memorial Day Fair, which will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunnyside Gardens Park is located at 48-21 39th Ave.
According to the SGCA, a wide range of activity stations and food stands will be sprinkled throughout the park for the fair. Visitors will find carnival rides and two bouncy houses, alongside booths for sand art, face painting, tattoos and more.
A Cross Fit demonstration will take place at 1 p.m., followed by a Japanese sword-fighting performance from Long Island City’s Resobox at 1:30 p.m.
A handful of local performers will also take the Sunnyside Gardens Park stage, which is a small area designed to look like a subway car. Performances run from 12:30 to approximately 4:30.
Attendance is free; tickets for food, games and activities throughout the fair will support the SGCA.
Sunnyside Gardens Parks is a private park with its members paying dues.
SGCA Vice President Debra McGowan said that the Memorial Day Fair, aside from being “a very important fundraiser” for the park, allows the group to open up the space to the public.
“Anybody and everybody can come in,” she said.
A rain date for the Memorial Day Fair is scheduled for May 31.
