The Health Department has closed a Mexican restaurant on Broadway after it found live roaches and other unsanitary conditions there, according to City records.
The New Portales Taqueria, located at 25-08 Broadway, was closed on Wednesday.
Violations found there include live roaches as well as poorly stored food, surfaces not built to code and conditions conducive to vermin.
Inquiries sent to the Health Department regarding the duration of the closure were not answered as of press time.
The restaurant’s last graded inspection was in January; it received an A.
A sign on the storefront says that owners are away on a vacation and will return Monday.
The restaurant’s owners could not be reached as of press time.
