Maggie Mae’s to Become Local Pub in Upcoming TV Show

June 30, 2015 By Christian Murray

Maggie Mae’s, the revamped bar located at 41-15 Queens Blvd, is going to be the hometown bar in an upcoming TV series.

The show, called Benders, features a number of guys who have an obsession for their beer-swilling amateur hockey league.

The show, produced by Denis Leary and Jim Serpico, is using Maggies Mae’s as its local bar. The show will refer to the pub by name in the show and will even show bar tenders in Maggie Mae’s T-Shirts.

James Moore, a co-owner of Maggie Mae’s, attributes the bar’s inclusion in the show to luck. The show, which was shooting out of the former Dime Bank on Queens Blvd., had a location scout look for a bar nearby to film out of.

The scout just happened to walk past Maggie Mae’s and decided that it would use its down stairs.

The production crew shot scenes from the bar for five full days.

The show will be screened on IFC later this year. There are eight episodes.

If Benders is well received, Moore said that they will be back shooting again for a second season.
