Time Warner Cable will absorb the former Lefkos Pyrgos bakery and neighboring stores to open a new retail location.
Located at 31-01 23rd Ave., the new Time Warner Cable store will be “a smaller version” of the company’s flagship store in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, a spokesperson said.
Builders are already at work at the site of the nearly 4,000 square-foot store, which stretches from the old bakery into space formerly occupied by the Blooming Company, Lucky 7 Internet Café and Astron Gift Shop along 31st Street.
According to the spokesperson, customers will be able to buy cable boxes, conduct Internet speed tests and customize service packages, among other products and services.
The Time Warner Cable store is slated for a soft-open mid-September.
Lefkos Pyrgos, a Greek café and bakery, sat on the corner of 23rd Avenue and 31st Street for nearly 40 years.
According to a source in the real estate industry, the bakery’s owners are examining the possibility of relocating within Astoria.
