Parking Around Astoria Park Restricted For Filming

A swath of parking spaces around Astoria Park will be closed this week while two TV shows are filmed.

CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” a police drama starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, will shoot on Thursday around the park and stretching along Hoyt Avenue.

No-parking signs were placed on the waterfront side of Shore Boulevard roughly between the Hell Gate Bridge and Charybdis Playground, on Ditmars Boulevard along the park between Shore Boulevard and 19^th Street, and both sides of the street on Hoyt Avenue North between 19^th Street and 23^rd Street.

A short portion of Astoria Park South at Shore Boulevard will also close.

Cars must be removed from these areas by 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Community Board 1, parking at a patchwork of streets near Bowery Bay will also be restricted for “Blue Bloods” work.

NBC’s “The Blacklist,” a crime drama staring James Spader, will film on Friday along the waterfront and around the edge of the park.

No-parking signs run the bulk of Shore Boulevard’s waterfront edge, from 21^st Avenue to across from the south end of the Astoria Park pool, and are also posted at the intersection of Shore Boulevard and 20^th Avenue.

No-parking signs were also placed on both sides of the street where Shore Boulevard meets Ditmars Boulevard, and along the park’s edge on Ditmars between Shore and 19^th Street.

Cars must be moved from these areas by 10 p.m. Thursday.

Marybeth Ihle, a spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, said she could not disclose any other shooting locations in the neighborhood as a matter of policy.

“The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment strives to keep film and television productions running smoothly in the City both for the productions and the local community,” Ihle said. “Locations can become a safety hazard if too many people show up on a set, impeding regular traffic and pedestrian flow as well as interrupting the production’s schedule.”
