Pizzeria on Vernon Blvd opens, with back deck coming soon

Aug. 3, 2015 By Christian Murray

After eight-months of construction, sLICe, a new pizzeria located at 48-11 Vernon Blvd., opened today.

The pizzeria, which is owned and managed by the same group behind Blend and Blend on the Water, was providing passersby with free slices today.

The new location seats between 15-to-20 customers inside, with room for more once construction on the back deck is complete. The deck, which will be fenced off, is adjacent to the rear section of Vernon Blvd dog run.

Nicholas Hyde, who is the manager, said the pizzeria will officially open tomorrow when it starts selling pizza. A New York Style slice will go for $2.50, a Sicilian $2.75, Margherita $3.00 and a Grandma $3.25. A vegan slice will cost $3.50.

Meanwhile, a regular 18 inch pie will be $17.00.

For now, the establishment is only offering pizza. However, within a few weeks, it will begin serving pasta, meatballs, calzones, heroes and other items.

The owners also plan to apply for a wine and beer license, although they are waiting to get everything else in order first.

The pizzeria will be open from 11 am through 7 pm during this week.
