The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Charity awards were bestowed last week in a conference that also revealed the dates of next year’s boat races.

The charity race is an annual event on the second day of the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival. This year three organizations—DCH Auto Group, Flushing Bank and HSBC Bank—competed in the race, with each contributing $2,500 to the donation pot.

As the winning team, the charity designated by DCH Auto Group received the most funds at $3,500. It was given to The Charles B. Wang Community Center, a nonprofit organization with a focus on Asian Americans that aims to eliminate disparities in health care and expand access to the medically underserved.

The remaining funds were divided equally for designation to charities chosen by the other participating teams in the boat race. Flushing Bank awarded $2,000 to the Queens Botanical Garden, and HSBC Bank chose the Chinatown YMCA as its beneficiary organization.

All donations were made on behalf of DCH Auto Group, HSBC Bank USA, Flushing Bank and HKDBF NY 2015.

Tentative dates for next year’s festival include an opening day parade on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, followed by the New York Championship Race. The U.S. Boat Open Championship Race is planned for Aug. 14.
