Bayside French bakery on Bell Boulevard sets opening date

Although the French Workshop is set to open in early December, renovations are still taking place.

Hotly anticipated Bayside bakery The French Workshop is set to finally open in the first week December.

The tentative debut of the French Workshop is set for Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.

While the restaurant—which is located on Bell Boulevard at 39th Avenue—is still in the process of hiring its staff, bakers have flown in from France to be a part of the team. The bakery’s ovens have also been specially shipped in from France.

The space is nearly 3,000 feet, according to Jerry Pantelatos, who owns the business with his family and additional partners. It was formerly the site of a Chase Bank franchise.

The Pantelatos family also runs Greek pastry shop Artopolis, which has Zagat-rated outposts in the Upper West Side and Astoria.
