Cemitas El Tigre

A restaurant opened on 48th Avenue today that focuses on selling central Mexican sandwiches—known as cemitas.
The establishment, aptly named Cemita’s, is located at 45-14 48th Ave. and offers Mexican sandwiches, burritos, tacos, milkshakes, craft beer and wine (click for menu).
Danny Lyu, a Los Angeles native who is the proprietor of the business, has operated two Smorgasburg stands (Cemitas and Handsome Hanks) prior to today’s opening.
The restaurant is Lyu’s first brick and mortar location.
Lyu said that the 48th Avenue area has many good eateries, just few modern dining options.
The restaurant has room for 32 customers, including several seats at the bar. The establishment opens at 12 pm each day, and closes at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
The location was previously occupied by Esmeralda.
