A wheelchair-bound man who allegedly robbed the TD Bank branch in Sunnyside on Monday has been arrested, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.
Kelvin Dennison, 23, from Astoria, allegedly entered the TD Bank branch located at 41-01 Queens Boulevard on Monday, January 4, 2016, and approached a teller window, where he handed the teller a note that stated: “Give me $20,000. I have a bomb. I will shoot.” After the teller handed Dennison $500, he exited the bank and wheeled himself south on Queens Boulevard.
“The defendant did not allow his disability to hinder him from breaking the law or frightening a bank employee by claiming that he was armed with a bomb and a firearm,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A Brown in a statement.
Dennis faces third-degree robbery charges, which is punishable up to seven years in prison.
Dennison was previously arrested on July 1, 2015, and charged with similarly robbing the Santander Bank, located at 37-10 Broadway in Astoria on the afternoon of June 29, 2015. In that case, Dennison who was in his wheelchair handed the teller a note which read “Give me all you have. I have a gun.”
