Jan. 22, 2016 Staff Report

Police are searching for two men who attempted to steal ice cream from a Ditmars Boulevard CVS Pharmacy and then beat up an employee who confronted them.

The two males entered the CVS at 7:13 p.m. on Jan. 3. They attempted to steal pints of ice cream by stuffing them into a backpack, police said.

When a female employee confronted the two males, they assaulted her and fled the location on foot, empty handed, according to the NYPD.

Police describe the first individual as a black male, 18- to 20-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light blue hooded sweater, a dark colored coat with a fur-lined hood and dark colored pants.

The second individual is described as a black male, 18- to 20-years-old, 5 feet 10 inches and 160lbs. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, dark colored pants and light colored book bag.

Police listed the CVS address as 30-01 Ditmars Blvd., apparently mistakenly referring to the CVS at 31-01 Ditmars Blvd.

A video of the suspects has been released and police are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
