Deals, which opened a Sunnyside store touting low prices on everyday essentials in 2011, has been transformed into a Dollar Tree store.
The change, which went into effect at the 39-09 Queens Blvd. store last week, does not represent a change of ownership.
Deals and the Dollar Tree both have the same corporate parent, Dollar Tree Inc., and the change is part of a branding strategy announced by the corporation in October.
The company has 222 stores operating under the Deals banner and 217 of them are being converted to Dollar Tree by the end of July.
The rebrand will bring some change to the shopping experience.
At Dollar Tree stores every item is $1 or less.
The company claims that it strives to keep its “shelves stocked every day with extreme values on cleaning supplies, health and beauty products, office supplies, school supplies, toys and crafts…”
Deals offered some items at heavily discounted prices but they were not all $1.
Dollar Tree Inc. manages nearly 14,000 stores across 48 states and five Canadian provinces. They operate under the brands of Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree Canada and Deals.
