Long Island City’s best kept secret in skin care has recently moved to 51st Avenue from its previous Vernon Boulevard location.
Tailormade For You founder Angelena Lucheux said the new space at 5-35 51st Ave. will be more accessible for both new and returning clients, as it only steps away from the Vernon-Jackson 7 train station.
Lucheux, who founded the business with her husband Benjamin four years ago, has been treating skin professionally for more than a decade.
She has served with the 9/11 Red Cross Relief Fund to treat police officers, firefighters and first responders, and also worked as a senior instructor at Atelier Esthétique, a Manhattan educational facility which Lucheux said is “internationally recognized as one of the industry’s most rigorous and respected schools.”
After teaching cosmetology there for three years, she was asked to work for Gerhard Klapp of Klapp Cosmetics, and traveled to Germany to serve as their international distributor for Canada, the United States, South America and the Caribbean Islands. Through her employment there she met her husband and the couple soon after moved to Long Island City. Following the birth of their first son, Maxime, the two decided to focus on their retail venture.
“When we moved to Vernon Boulevard, this area had such a huge influx of international residents because of its proximity to the United Nations, which is right across the East River. So we get a lot of clients that are German, French and Spanish,” Lucheux said. “Benjamin works with a lot of international clientele in Europe, so he knows what the newest skincare trends are overseas. We even go to trade shows together and find out what else we can get for our clients.”
This attention to detail earned Lucheux a 2015 Top Women in Business Award by Schneps Communications and a 2015 award for Best Day Spa in Long Island City.
As far as what new customers can expect, Tailormade For You offers a variety of treatments for the entire body.
“We specialize in high-end, luxury European facials, with products from France, Spain and Germany,” she said. “And we do many types of revitalization treatments because the skin always needs to be reinvented.”
One example is their caviar face mask, a relatively new and trendy practice at upscale spas in which they use eggs from sturgeons found in the Caspian Sea to mask the face with amino acids.
For the body, “we offer a non-invasive form of liposuction called cavitation, which uses an ultrasonic device to breakdown fat cells and provide a massage for your lymphatic system,” Lucheux explained. “We don’t promise astronomical weight loss, but you will lose inches instantly in the areas you wish to target over the course of the treatment.”

The newest member of their team, Courtney Leff, launched eye-lash extensions this month to expand the services Tailormade For You offers to their clients.
“We couldn’t be happier with Courtney,” Lucheux said. “She has a great energy, and was also a student at the school I taught in.”
Lucheux invites clients of all ages to visit Tailormade, stressing, “it’s important to start taking care of your skin as early as possible. Due to all the pressure and stress of school, social lives and other factors, I have teenagers and preteens as clients who have trouble with acne because of hormones that lead to breakouts.”
She said people who begin treating their skin earlier in life are less prone to do invasive types of treatments like botox in their later years.
“I’m proud to do something that I love to do,” Lucheux said. “I go in and never have a bad day because I make people feel good. In my 21 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of learning from the best of the best, and as a resident of Long Island City for almost 10 years, I look forward to meeting more people in the area and to be a greater part of the community.”
