A Sunnyside apartment was destroyed in a blaze on Sunday and residents have started raising funds for the displaced occupants.
The fire ripped through a sixth floor apartment at 47-09 Skillman Ave on Sunday morning.
The fire was called in at 6:51 am, and 12 units and 60 firefighters responded to the scene, according to the FDNY.
The fire was caused by a damaged electrical cord, according to the FDNY, and was brought under control by 7:21 am. One person suffered a minor injury.
Following the fire, an online fundraiser was launched to helped raise money for the unidentified occupants of the destroyed apartment.
“The apartment is completely destroyed and its residents lost it all,” the Go Fund Me page states.
“As neighbors and even if you are not, as citizens and as an act of kindness we ask for any kind donation that you can give.”
The creator of the Go Fund Me page aims to raise $7,000, according to the website.
As of print time, seven donations have been cast, totaling $185.
The page creator could not be reached for comment.
