Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on 21st Street

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Astoria last night.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, was walking in the middle of 21st Street, just north of 30th Road, when a dark colored sedan plowed into him, according to the NYPD’s Highway Unit’s Collision Investigation Squad. The driver then fled the scene.

Police responded to the call at 10:56 pm and discovered the victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed pending family notification, lying in the street with severe body trauma. The man was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The vehicle fled the scene before the police arrived. There have been no arrest made at this time and the investigation is ongoing, according to the NYPD.
