The real estate boom in Long Island City shows no signs of slowing down, so we’ve created a map to highlight some of the projects that are currently being constructed (or will be soon).
It’s no surprise that the future tallest building in Queens may be coming to Long Island City. Developers behind the City View Tower, a 984-foot “supertall” building, plan to complete construction next year. The mixed-use tower will be located near the Citigroup building and close to a proposed 66-story, mixed-use tower.
Though Court Square seems to be getting a large share of these new buildings, a few are also popping up in Hunters Point, an area known for its low-rise buildings and manufacturing warehouses. The Jackson, an 11-story luxury condo, will be completed in the first half of 2017 at 13-33 Jackson Ave.

The Long Island City waterfront is also steadily being developed including two lots, which the city will turn into apartment buildings, a school and sites for industrial use.
A contentious proposal to redevelop the Paragon Paint Factory is also in the works as the Board of Standards and Appeals is deciding whether to grant developers a zoning variance. Community Board 2 voted to recommend denying the variance, citing Hunters Point’s low-rise nature and the city’s lack of plan for development along the waterfront.
Whether you like all the new developments or not, the neighborhood will continue to change and this is only a small portion of the projects on the way.
