A new breakfast food truck will roll into Astoria next month.
The Breakfast Shack will open on 30th Avenue and 30th Street, by Athens Square Park, the week of June 6, according to owner Joseph DeMato.
DNA Info recently reported the planned June opening.
The truck will serve traditional breakfast items Monday through Friday. These will include French toast, omelets, pancakes, oatmeal, fruit salad and bacon.
The truck will also be open for brunch on Sundays.
The brunch menu will feature Shack Bites, which have eggs, potatoes, cheese and bacon, dipped in pancake batter, rolled in honey flakes and fried. DeMato plans on serving it with a choice of maple syrup or spicy ketchup, although the dipping sauces may change.
“It is basically breakfast in a bite,” DeMato said.

The brunch menu will also feature bourbon chicken hash. He is also planning on changing the brunch menu seasonally.
All meat served will be organic or certified humane, according to DeMato. The produce will all be organic, while the dairy is organic and local, he said.
“Our goal is to make responsible purchasing decisions,” he said.
DeMato picked this location for his truck due to the foot traffic that the space offers from the park and the nearby 30th Avenue subway station.
“It is a busy train stop,” he said. “We are catering to the morning crowd so we think this is a great location.”
“People can grab breakfast on their way to the train,” he added.
The truck will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. It will be closed on Saturdays.
DeMato wanted to open in Queens, and while he is not from Astoria, he is very familiar with the neighborhood as he has family that has lived here for years.
“My grandparents lived in Astoria since they moved from Italy,” he said. “I’ve felt a part of the neighborhood since I was a little kid.”
This is the first food truck he opened.
“It has always been my dream to open my own food establishment,” he said.
DeMato has worked at the Carlyle Hotel in the Upper East Side for the past eight years.
