Developer Tishman Speyer filed construction plans last week with the City for a $700 million commercial project slated for Queens Plaza.
The development, which will hold mostly retail and office space, is slated for Jackson Avenue between 42nd Road and Queens Plaza South. This property is adjacent to 2 Gotham Center, a 21-story building developed by Tishman Speyer that was completed in 2011 and is home to the Dept. of Health.
The project will have two towers and will cost $700 million to develop, according to Industrial Development Agency documents published by the City in April. The Real Deal has reported that the towers will stand 29 and 30 stories.
Department of Building plans filed Friday indicate that there will be cellar and first-floor retail space, with offices and mechanical equipment rooms on the upper floors.
DOB plans also call for 250 parking spaces and 2,460-square-feet of bicycle parking. The IDA documents had stated that there would be an approximately 388-space parking garage.
Tishman Speyer did not respond to requests for comment on this story as of this writing.
The architect of record is MdeAS, which also designed 2 Gotham Center.
It has also been reported that the co-working company WeWork will serve as an anchor tenant for the new Gotham Center project.
“We have no new locations in Queens to announce at this time,” a WeWork spokesperson said when asked about this.
Tishman Speyer is also developing a 1,800-unit residential project nearby at 28-10 Jackson Avenue, with the H&R Real Estate Investment Trust.
