A driver was fatally struck by a box truck after running a stop sign in Sunnyside on Monday evening.
Police said that Bruce Lanzer, 53, was driving a four-door sedan southbound on 37th Street, when he drove through a stop sign at the intersection with Review Avenue, at the edge of First Calvary Cemetery near Greenpoint Avenue.
The 26-year-old driver of the box truck was traveling westbound on Review Avenue when he crashed into Lanzer’s car, according to the NYPD.
Lanzer suffered trauma to his body. EMS removed him to Elmhurst General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the box truck remained at the scene. There have been no arrests made at this time, but an investigation is ongoing, police said.
