A 33-year-old Elmhurst man who was robbed and stabbed repeatedly on an N train and said fellow passengers didn’t bother to help him.
On May 20th at about 11:15 a.m., Efrain Guaman was on a southbound N train in Park Slope when the suspect came up to him and said “give me your phone or I’ll stab you,” police said. After a struggle ensued, Guaman was stabbed repeatedly on the right side of his torso.
According to ABC7, the attack happened at the Pacific Street stop in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Guaman told ABC7 that he was on his way to his family’s electronics store and repeatedly said “help me” to his fellow passengers. Guaman said passengers probably froze when they saw him getting stabbed. Once the train stopped at the station, the suspect fled to an unknown location, officials said.
He received 22 stitches and had to spend five days in the hospital, according to ABC7. Guaman now uses a tube to monitor his breathing. He told ABC7 that he feared for his life when his body became cold but kept thinking about getting home to his 2-year-old daughter.
The suspect is described as black male about 20 to 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and blue jacket, and his hair was in twist braids. He has a tattoo on the left side of his neck.
