Police Searching For Phone Thief Who Struck On Jackson Avenue

Police are searching for a man who snatched a woman’s cellphone on Jackson Avenue and escaped onto the subway.

The suspect approached the 40-year-old woman in front of Mu Ramen, 12-09 Jackson Ave., and asked for a cigarette, according to the NYPD. When the woman said she didn’t have any more, the suspect grabbed the cellphone out of her hand and fled into the Vernon Blvd-Jackson Avenue station via the 50th Avenue entrance towards Flushing.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on May 25. The victim sustained no injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5-feet-11-inches tall, 180 pounds, with short hair. He was last seen wearing light colored shorts, a light colored t-shirt and black sneakers.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect walking in front of 12-23 Jackson Ave. prior to the incident.
