Soleluna, an Italian restaurant located at 40-01 Queens Blvd., hopes to offer an outdoor café to customers this summer.
Owner Valerio Marchi will bring his application to establish an outdoor seating café with five tables and 10 seats before Community Board 2 on Thursday.
The tables will run along 40th Street, according to Marchi.
He decided to apply for the outdoor seating as he believes it will add to the appeal of the restaurant.
“It will add to the restaurant and what we offer,” Marchi said.
“I want to have tables set up this summer,” he added. “I will set them up once our application is approved.”
The application will go before Community Board 2 for a vote at its monthly meeting tomorrow. This is an advisory vote that gets sent as a recommendation to the Department of Consumer Affairs, which ultimately makes the decision.
Soleluna opened about a year ago. Marchi, who is from Milan, co-owns the restaurant along with his two sisters.
He lives with his wife, Michele, a Venezuela native, and two daughters on 40th Street. The two have lived in Sunnyside for more than a decade.
