The Parks Department will serve up free tennis lessons to aspiring players on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
CityParks Tennis will teach kids ages 6 to 16 how to serve, return and rally in an effort to “promote physical fitness while building self-confidence,” according to a press release. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The organization gives free tennis lessons to thousands of kids in more than 36 parks.
The lessons will begin inside the park at 9 a.m. at Perimeter Road and end at noon.
CityParks Tennis also hosts tournaments, leagues and special events. Adults can also get in on the fun with the Corporate Tennis League, a co-ed league that requires a minimum of four players on a team.
