Costa Constantinides

Councilman Costa Constantinides took a hands-on approach to his promise to clean up Astoria today when he used a power washer to remove graffiti from a fence on 23rd Street.
Graffiti removal is part of Constantinides’ plan to clean up and beautify his district. He announced a $200,000 budget to keep Astoria clean earlier this month, which included a $21,000 allocation towards the Queens Economic Development Corporation to provide on-demand graffiti removal services, who he joined on their rounds earlier today.
“As I have heard from residents in this area, this fence on 23rd Street has been plagued by graffiti for years. It is gratifying to be able to help remove this blight from this residential block. Caring for our neighborhood and keeping it clean for residents and visitors is a top priority for us,” Constantinides said in a statement.
Astoria residents are urged to call Constantinides’ office at 718-274-4500 to report graffiti and have it removed.
