Sept. 20, 2016 Staff Report

Burnside Biscuits has closed its doors just over a year after it opened.

The southern-themed restaurant, located at 32-07 30th Avenue, opened last July and was backed by the owner Bareburger Euripides Pelekanos. It announced last week via several of its social media channels that it would close for good on September 19.

“For over a year we had a blast serving the people of Astoria. There was nothing better than being able to bake biscuits and mix cocktails for our community. But this awesome corner of Queens deserves something epic,” the post read.

The post continued, “So while this may be goodbye for now, don’t stay away for too long. Our smoke signals will be visible from the L very, very soon.” However it did not clarify what the future for the restaurant might hold, or if it would move its operations to Brooklyn, as the mention of the L train alludes to.

The restaurant had a 3.5 star rating on Yelp, with reviews running the gamut. Many reviews praised the décor and ambiance, but took issue with some of the food and service at the restaurant.

Calls and emails to the Pelekanos regarding reasons for closing and future plans went unanswered.
