A Laundromat on Broadway caught fire early Monday, taking 60 firefighters about an hour to bring the flames under control, according to the FDNY.
The FDNY received a call about a fire at Old Neighbors Laundry, between 34th and 35th Streets on Broadway, around 5 a.m. They responded with 12 units, or about 60 firefighters, and the fire was under control by around 6 a.m.
The fire began in the rear bathroom of the Laundromat, though the cause is still under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals, according to an FDNY spokesperson.
There is extensive damage to the building, according to the FDNY spokesperson, though he did not go in to further detail.
Calls to the Laundromat for comment went unanswered.
