A new owner has taken over the now-defunct Station LIC and plans to open a restaurant serving regional American cuisine and beer from the local breweries.
The new venue, located at 10-37 Jackson Avenue, will be called Jackson’s and the owner took over the establishment in July after acquiring the lease and other items from the previous owners of Station LIC.
The new owner, who spoke at Community Board 2’s City Services and Public Safety Committee meeting Wednesday, said that the restaurant/bar will look largely the same although there will be some cosmetic changes.
The focus will be on offering American regional cuisine, the owner said, adding that it will be “something that you don’t need a dictionary to decipher as to what you are eating.”
He said he will be serving an array of different items, from vegetable pot pie, buttermilk fried chicken and meatloaf.
The owner said that there will be an emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine and offering beer from all the local breweries.
The new owner did not request changing the operating hours that Station LIC had, which were 5 pm through 2 am Monday through Saturday and 11 am through midnight Sunday. No requests were made for live music or DJs.
Station LIC, a railroad themed establishment, closed in June after being open for 19 months.
