NYPD has ‘person of interest’ following two Sunnyside burglaries

The police have identified a person of interest in regards to two Sunnyside burglaries that occurred in July.

Alex Castro, a 29-year-old Hispanic man, has been identified in connection with both incidents, though no charges have been brought against him as of yet.

The first burglary happened at 3:20 p.m. on July 15 around 43rd Avenue and 44th Street, when two men illegally entered a private residence and stole $1,400 cash, jewelry valued at $8,000 and some electronics, before fleeing on foot.

The second burglary took place on July 29, when the same men entered an apartment on 44th street between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. and took a laptop and six small diamonds.

The men involved in the robbery were described as a bald black man with a beard wearing Nike sneakers, a black shirt, and olive cargo shorts, and a man with a beard and long dark hair wearing blue Nike sneakers, a baseball cap, a black t-shirt, and denim shorts.
