Plans have been filed with the Department of Buildings for a 50-story hotel to go up in the heart of Court Square.
Japan’s Toyoko Inn filed plans Tuesday to build a 50-story, 261,000-square-foot hotel at 24-09 Jackson Avenue, which is across the street from the Court Square subway station.
The massive hotel will contain 1,260 hotel rooms, with about 22 hotel rooms per floor.

The development site is comprised of up to six separate parcels of land. The company paid a total of $18 million for it in 2007, according to city real estate records.
Toyoko Inn is an economy hotel chain, and has more than 200 operations in Japan, Korea and Cambodia.
The development represents the continuation of a wave of hotel development that has taken place in Long Island City.
The Long Island City Partnership reported in June that there are 27 hotels that are open in the neighborhood, with 34 in the planning stages.
