MTA bus driver slashed in stomach at Queens Blvd/69th Street

An MTA bus driver was slashed in the stomach on Thursday morning and the suspect has been charged, according to police.

58-year-old George Seger was returning to his bus to start his shift after getting a coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts around 3:45 a.m. when the suspect approached him and slashed him in the stomach.

He had parked the bus near Queens Boulevard and 69th Street.

After attacking him, the suspect then demanded that he call the police.

Seger was taken to Elmhurst hospital in stable condition, was treated with 11 stitches for the gash on his stomach and was released.

Police apprehended 48-year-old Carlos Lema of Queens at the scene, and have since charged him with assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, and disorderly conduct.
