Police looking for a bike-riding serial necklace snatcher in Woodside

A man in Woodside has been targeting women for their necklaces, police announced on Thursday.

According to authorities, the suspect snatched necklaces from women on two different occasions. On Sept. 28 at 10:28 a.m., the man approached a 47-year-old woman at Woodside Avenue and 72nd Street on a bicycle. He ripped the jewelry from her neck and fled on his bike to an unknown location, police said.

 

On Oct. 4 at 9:20 a.m., law enforcement agents said, the suspect walked behind a 53-year-old and stole her necklace before fleeing the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a 30- to 35-year-old man standing at approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the arm, dark colored pants and sneakers and a gray baseball hat.
