The City approved a demolition plan for the old Western Beef supermarket in Astoria yesterday, which will make way for a new 210-room hotel.
The site, which runs from 36-12 to 36-32 Steinway Street, will be built up in to a 5-story hotel, according to city records.
The developer took the next step towards building the new hotel by getting a demolition permit for the single story supermarket currently on the site.
Once built, the hotel will have 210 rooms covering 119,722 square feet of space, and will have 77 enclosed parking spaces.
JMH Development Company, the developer of the new hotel, signed a long-term lease on the property running through the year 2115 for $19.6 million, according to city records.
Manhattan-based architect Gene Kaufman is designing the hotel.
