Crabhouse

The Hunters Point Civic Association is hosting a meeting Wednesday with the operators of the Gantry Loft, the event space above the new Crabhouse restaurant, following a series of noise complaints.
Brent O’Leary, the president of the HPCA, said that some residents are claiming the space is being used more like a club than for events.
The meeting will work toward addressing these concerns tonight at 7 p.m. at the Crabhouse, located at 2-03 Borden Avenue.
The operators of the Gantry Loft were subject to particular criticism after hosting a $75 Halloween party that ran until 4 a.m. with an open bar.
O’Leary pointed out that events like these are more typical of a club than an event space. He said nearby residents complained that the establishment played loud music late into the night.
He said that the meeting would include owner, Skinny Lee, who would be there to discuss residents’ concerns. A community liaison from the 108th Precinct will also attend, as noise complaints go through the police department.
He said that the community would work with the owner to brainstorm solutions. One suggestion O’Leary mentioned was soundproofing the windows of the event space to lower the noise levels in the neighborhood.
