A Jamaica man convicted of sexually abusing three children while he babysat them for their parents will be spending the next 45 years behind bars, prosecutors announced on Thursday.
Tyron Adolph of 116th Street was convicted in October on two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child and one count of child endangerment.
According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, Adolph was “a friend of the families of the three victims,” one of whom was as young as 5 years of age, and was using that friendship “to take advantage of innocent children for his own sexual gratification.”
The sexual abuse took place between Jan. 1, 2014, and Nov. 2, 2015. According to the charges, Adolph sexually abused the kids while watching them for their parents. Along with the 5-year-old victim, the other two abused children were between 7 and 11 years old.
“The sentence imposed today by the Court is a measure of justice for the victims in this case who each endured a traumatic and painful ordeal at the hands of the defendant,” Brown said in a statement.
Adolph was arrested on Jan. 3, 2015, as a result of an investigation by the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad and has been held in jail on $300,000 bail since being taken into custody.
