A high-end gourmet deli with an upstairs bar is coming to Vernon Boulevard in the space that was formerly occupied by The Butcher Gourmet Deli.
The new establishment, located at 49-16 Vernon Blvd., will consist of an extensive ground floor deli, with stairs leading to a second-floor area where patrons can eat their food. The upstairs component, which will seat about 45 people, will include a bar selling wine and beer.
The ground floor deli area will be open 24 hours x 7 days, while the upstairs will close at midnight each day.
The establishment is being run by the owner of E&I Deli, which has been located in the space next door (49-12 Vernon Blvd) for approximately 15 years. E&I will continue to operate at its present location but will use its existing space to focus more on grocery items, while the new location will be used to prepare and sell food.
The operator was at Community Board 2’s City Services & Public Safety Committee and was given the thumbs up to sell beer to retail customers on the ground floor and to serve wine and beer to patrons upstairs.
The new establishment, which has yet to be named, is expected to open by the end of February.
