Grab a brew in western Queens for NYC Beer Week

Starting today, breweries around the city will be offering special deals and events to showcase the best of beer in New York City and several Queens breweries are participating.

The weeklong celebration will end on March 5 and participating breweries include Rockaway Brewing Company, Finback Brewery and BIG aLICe Brewing along with restaurants like John Brown Smokehouse that will partner with beer makers to showcase their brews.

On Feb. 24, The Sparrow Tavern at 24-01 29th St. in Astoria will serve beertails (beer and a cocktail) from Big Alice Brewing, SingleCut and Iconyc Brewing.

Rockaway Brewing Company will partner with Brooklyn Small Batch to offer a beer and bourbon and on Feb. 25, Finback Brewery will host a beer and yoga event. Poses like “drunken warrior” and “earn your beer” will challenge you to hold a pose without spilling your drink.

On March 1, Astoria Bier and Cheese will host a bar crawl throughout Astoria and participants will visit local pubs such as Judy and Punch and Crescent and Vine.

If you enjoy cheese with your wine BIG aLICe Brewing is partnering with Slates & Plates on March 2 to guide patrons on pairing the perfect cheese with your beer.

Crescent and Vine at 25-03 Ditmars Blvd. will host a beer and vinyl event on March 5 at 7 p.m.
